TIPS ON TABLE MANNERS

The Chocolate Professors practice good table manners at all times.  Whether at school, dinner at home, or at a Restaurant, proper table manners are one way people judge others.  Practice these rules at home and they will be habit when you go out to eat.

Here are some basic table manners to remember:

  • Wash your hands before sitting down.
  • When you sit down, place the napkin in your lap.
  • Sit up straight and don't slouch.
  • Wait until everyone is seated and served before starting to eat.  If grace is said, wait to eat until it is completed.
  • Eat slowly, don't stuff your mouth full of food.
  • Never chew with your mouth open.
  • Never talk with a mouth full of food.
  • Ask politely for dishes to be passed.  Never reach across the table.
  • Never wave or throw utensils.
  • Ask politely for seconds if you want them.
  • Never grab food from other people's place.
  • Ask to be excused from the table.
  • Clear your plate from the table and take it into the kitchen.
