Love of the Arts
We must provide our
children with the materials and opportunities, which will aid in their positive
growth so that they can realize their full potential.
To do this, it is crucial that Parents help their children develop a love
of learning.
Remember: Children
who love to learn, learn, and a
poorly or inappropriately motivated child will not learn much even with the best
of teachers and facilities.
Here
are some tips on how to help your child develop "A Love of Learning":

Make
sure your child is exposed to a computer and learn how to use the Internet.

Write
notes of encouragement to your child.

Help
your child write letters and notes to friends and relative, and send cards
on special occasions.

Encourage
your child to keep a journal (include such things as special events, special
accomplishments, important activities and goals, etc.)

Read
to your child often and encourage your child to read.

Encourage
your child to get involved in science projects.

Help
your child create a telephone directory with names and phone numbers of his
or her friends and other important phone number.

Encourage
your child to enter reading and writing contest.

Provide
your child a calendar so he/she can write down special events and mark off
each day.

Show
your child how to count change.

Show
your child how to tell time.

Encourage
a unique hobby.

Let
your child help prepare a meal.

Give
your child specific duties to perform on a regular basis at home, be
creative.

Encourage
your child to join a club (reading clubs, sports clubs, etc.) or start a
club on their own.

Encourage
your child to volunteer (get involved in community related activities).

Take
your child on vacations (especially to historic sights)

your child develop "A Love of the Arts":

Encourage your child to
enter art contest.

Encourage your child to
participate in activities that require creativity and imagination.

Provide materials such as
crayons, art paper and paints, and creative projects.

Encourage your child to
keep a scrapbook about subjects that interest him/her (art, animals, travel,
sports, different cultures, books, collecting, etc.)

Encourage your child to
start a collection (stamps, art, books, coins, unique toys, etc.)

Take your child to a
museum, a play, and cultural activities on a regular basis.

Encourage your child to
learn to play an instrument and introduce him/her to jazz and classical
music.

Encourage your child to
participate in dance and sports.

Engage your child in
Storytelling, reciting poems, writing poems, acting, etc.
