CSU WRITING LOFT
Creative Writing & Poetry Contest
Deadline: June 14, 2003

 Cocoa and Fudge love to write short plays and produce them for the CSU Arena Stage and Chip loves to write poetry.  How would you like to show off your writing skills!  Well, the CSU Creative Writing and Poetry contest was especially designed for Members, U.S. and International, who love to express themselves through creative writing and to use vocabulary development to improve their writing skills.

 

Competition Categories 

Contest Rules and Guidelines

1.  The contest is open to all CSU members 17 years or younger.  Members may submit their work individually or as part of a classroom project.  You may enter the contest as many times as you like before the deadline, but a separate entry form must be completed for each submission.

2.  You may submit Poems, Short Stories or Essays.  All work must be original.  Poems, Short Stories and Essays must either be typed or legibly written in ink.  Please do not use pencil.  Poems must not exceed 40 lines in length and Short Stories and Essays must not exceed 700 words.  Each submission must include a completed Creating Writing & Poetry Contest Entry form. All entries must include a parent or guardian’s signature indicating approval.  By submitting your Poem, Short Story or Essay, and if your work is selected as a First, Second, or Third place winner, you are granting permission to display the work on the CSU Writer's Hall of Fame web page.  If you would like your work returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

5.  The deadline for all Creative Writing & Poetry entries is March 15, 2003.  Works received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Contest Prizes

Prizewinners will be issued checks in U.S. dollars after all entries have been judged and winners are selected.  Winners will be selected from each Competition Category.  Winner’s names, their entries and their schools, if submitted, as a class project will be posted on The CSU Writer’s Hall of Fame web page.   Prizes are listed below:
